Home / LVT Flooring for Kitchens / Page 2
In a kitchen, flooring has to be more than a simple surface to walk on. It has to be water-resistant, as well as being able to withstand environmental changes. Changes in temperature and humidity can result in a floor contracting and expanding, which in extreme cases can lead to unseemly imperfections and damage.
However, if fitted correctly, LVT is immune to all of this. Whilst LVT contracts and expands, it does so at such a small level that it’s hardly noticeable. On top of this, LVT is highly water resistant, with water sitting on the non-porous surface, making clean-ups simple and easy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Kitchens are high-traffic areas requiring durable and easy-to-clean flooring. LVT, or Luxury Vinyl Tile, is hard-wearing and simple to maintain, making it perfect for kitchens. Luvanto believes LVT is a top contender for all rooms, especially the kitchen. Even better, if you’re the type who absolutely needs the look of a traditional floor – good news! LVT can mimic nearly any material in both sight and even touch.
Historically, ceramic tiles and standard sheet vinyl have been popular choices for kitchen floors. Both are non-porous materials that stand up against water quite well. However, ceramic has the unfortunate disadvantage of being easily cracked. When cracked, repairing/replacing becomes a chore that few find worth it.
As for standard sheet vinyl, compared to luxury vinyl tile it usually has a lower resolution print, a less comfortable underfoot feel and a lower defences against wear and tear.
Both standard sheet vinyl and LVT offer excellent resistance to liquids. Spills on both surfaces can easily be cleaned with a mop and bucket. However, improperly installed flooring can have less secure seams, potentially allowing liquid to reach the subfloor. It’s crucial to employ experienced professionals for installation.
Both can have issues with fading due to direct sunlight. However, Luvanto LVT has a UV protective layer designed to resist fading from sunlight, providing longer-term protection.
While standard vinyl can be thin and less comfortable, LVT stands out for its comfort. It has multiple layers, offering a soft feeling underfoot. LVT is warm to touch making it one of the most comfortable flooring options available, apart from carpets.
Absolutely! LVT’s multi-layered structure allows for detailed and convincing high-resolution photographic quality prints, capable of imitating materials ranging from stone to wood. This gives LVT an advantage in design versatility over standard sheet vinyl.
